On October 25th, I attended a local seminar by photographer Mark Wolfson on his "Abandoned" series, depicting various abandoned architecture in the places he has visited.
Mr. Wolfson also taught me how to set up my camera for different compositions and lighting in urban photography. Seeing how aesthetic his photos were inspired me to start street photography (as a lead-up to urban exploration) as well. The following weeks, I took public transit to places around the city, ranging from busy major intersections to secluded forest trails.
Above are some of my favorite photos from the last few times I went out. I tried to play with lighting angles and careful subject selection to draw emphasis to certain areas of the photo. I also edited some pictures on Photoshop to adjust saturation and lighting effects a little afterwards.
In the seminar, Mr. Wolfson detailed his urban exploration techniques for the audience. He emphasized the need for protective gear like a hard hat, heavy-duty boots and garbage bags for the dangerous environment. He told stories of how he would gain access to enclosed areas of the abandoned buildings, providing both warning and inspiration. Below is a link to Mr. Wolfson's website, showing a series of photos he took at the abandoned Kodak Building No. 9 in Toronto: https://www.markwolfsonphotos.com/kodak-urbandecay#12
