On March 23rd, 2024, Andy competed at the 2024 1UP Toronto Conference, the culminating event of a year-long urban design challenge for schools in the GTA. As the founder and president of the Architecture & Urban Development Club at Crescent School, Andy led around 15 dedicated members in tackling the issue of traffic congestion caused by school pick-up and drop-off, presenting the club's solutions (active travel incentives, an efficient redesign of the parking lot, and road signs for clarity) at the conference with two of the club's other execs. In the end, the team secured $500 in funding to implement their solutions as the runner-up prize, which was still of significant importance because they were a pilot club competing against schools with years of experience already.
